Spread over four different mini resorts at four different altitudes, Courchevel has a reputation as being one of the glitziest and most expensive ski resorts in the French Alps.
But people don’t often realise that each of the mini resorts have a very different feel and crowd.
If you fancy a winter season in the midst of Posh & Becks and a bevvie of movie stars, footballers and their associated WAGS, Courchevel 1850 is where you head for your supposed ‘Chalet Girl the Movie’ season. If you’re season aspirations are a little more low key, Courchevel 1650 should be on your shortlist. It has it’s own charm and character and it links nicely to the wider Three Valleys ski network. It’s also a LOT cheaper. Courchevel 1550 is much quieter and Courchevel 1300 is on a large flat plateau.
Meribel and Val Thorens are the major nearby resorts and the lift system is modern and speedy. The Three Valleys are a great season base if you haven’t skied before – there are loads of convenient beginners slopes and cruisey blues to help you advance.
With the majority of BedsnBoard winter seasonaire accommodation in Courchevel 1650, the bars and apres you need to know about begin with Le Bubble Bar. You can usually ski directly to it in the centre of the village and because it’s open all day there’s a mixed crowd. Apres can get messy though, you’ve been warned.
