Samoens is one of those smaller, up and coming resorts, currently popular with British ex-pats starting chalet holiday companies.

That’s why it’s on the BedsnBoard radar, despite being relatively unknown. There are lots of season work opportunities in Samoens and it’s connected to a great ski network.

Samoens is just an hour and 10 minutes transfer from Geneva airport. If you’ve been to Morzine, Les Gets or Avoriaz you’ll have seen the signs along the way. Along with Flaine, the resort of Samoens forms part of the Grand Massif ski area, which includes 265km of linked piste. The village itself is traditional and historic but expanding at a rapid pace due to it’s location on a wide, sunny flat valley floor.

The highlight of the apres scene in Samoens is Covey’s Irish Pub. It’s a real Irish pub run by real Irish people and the atmosphere is always fantastic. There are also lots of good value restaurants, both on the piste and in Samoens village itself.

Visit the Samoens Office de Tourisme website for more information on the resort of Samoens.
