Seasonal Accommodation in Chamonix

Are you planning a season in Chamonix?

Maybe you’re concerned about finding the right accommodation to suit your new life in the Alps? If you are, this guide will help you understand the types of accommodation on offer whilst also offering insight into life in the villages and towns that make up the Chamonix valley.

Location, Location, Location

Location is everything in Chamonix. The valley stretches for over 20km and consists of approximately 10 hamlets, villages and towns, each with distinct characteristics and benefits of their own.

First find a location the suits your lifestyle, then find the perfect property to match.

Les Houches

Les Houches is the first major settlement in the Chamonix valley and is situated at 1000m. It is a ski resort in its own right and offers some exceptional skiing, including the world famous ‘Kandahar’ men’s downhill run. Les Houches is also used as the starting point for climbers heading for the summit of Mont Blanc. These factors make Les Houches busy enough to maintain good work opportunities both summer and winter whilst still retaining bucket loads of Alpine charm and a great sense of community.

It is only 7km to Chamonix town centre and there is a regular free bus service to the town and all of the local ski areas.

Chalet Squirrel Sleeps 10/12 and is our top pick for seasonal accommodation in Les Houches.

Les Praz

Les Praz is the first settlement within easy walking distance of Chamonix town. Only 2km away from the action it is the perfect location to pick up a well priced seasonal let that has all the ease that comes with a great central location.

Les Praz is surrounded by beautiful woodland and is also home to the Chamonix golf course.

Apartment Croix, Sleeps 5/7 people is our top pick seasonal accommodation in Les Praz.

Chamonix Centre/Sud

If you want to live right at the heart of the action then this is the only option for you. Chamonix Sud is an enclave for skiers, snowboarders, climbers and other extreme sports nuts who live and work in Cham’. If you live by the mantra, work hard, play hard, party hard, this is the place for you.

You will always be within walking distance of the shops, bars and restaurants and there is a constant supply of free buses to take you to all the ski areas covered by the Mont Blanc lift pass. Chamonix is a thriving town, always busy and never dull. That said, it still retains some of the rustic Savoyard charm that makes this area of France so unique.

Apartment Majestic is our top pick for seasonal accommodation in Chamonix Centre

Argentiere

Argentiere perches majestically at the head of the Chamonix valley. At 1250m it is the highest and largest settlement in the valley, (apart from Cham’ itself). Argentiere is home to the famous ‘Grands Montets’ cable car and the best off-piste skiing in the Chamonix valley.

There is a wide range of bars, shops and restaurants in the town and the atmosphere is both more traditional and a little more chilled than Chamonix centre.

Chalet Argentière, sleeps 10, is our top pick for seasonal accommodation in Argentière.
