How do book some seasonal accommodation in the French Alps?

Once you have found the property you require, please contact us directly and we will email you a tenancy agreement. Once the tenancy agreement has been signed and returned (scanned email copy is fine), you will need to pay a non refundable deposit by bank transfer to our French Euro account to secure the property. Please note that until we receive the signed tenancy agreement and your deposit, we cannot reserve any accommodation for you. We will also need a scanned copy of your passport as proof of identity. You will need to pay the final balance of the rent and refundable security deposit (varies per property) one month before arriving in resort. Please be aware that no keys will be handed over until all funds have cleared in our account. This will be returned to you at the end of the rental period subject to a successful check out procedure / inventory check. On the day you move in, you will collect keys from a BedsnBoard agent or their appointed local management agent. You will be given a property inventory and asked to sign it. We advise that you do check this document carefully and make a note of any damage or missing items that do not appear on the inventor and inform the respective BedsnBoard agent.

Why do I have to pay all the seasons rent in advance?

The reason we ask for full payment before the actual start of the winter season is that the majority of property owners stipulate this in their contracts. The main reason is they do this is to protect themselves from tenants defaulting on rental payments or leaving resort early.

What is the security / damage deposit?

This is a payment which you pay as a deposit against any damage which might occur to the property and cover any utility bills (should the bills not be included in the property price).

How much is the security/damage deposit?

This varies depending on the type of property you have chosen but is usually equivalent to one months rent. The amount will be specified in your tenancy agreement.

When will my security/damage deposit be returned to me?

As soon as your rental period ends BedsnBoard or associated agents will check the property for any damage and missing items. Should you have a winter seasonal let we try not to pay the deposits back any later then the 30th May.

What do I need to bring with me?

Generally, bedding (duvets, pillow, and blankets) will be provided but you will just need to check this with us before hand as some properties do not provide them. You will need to provided you own linen and towels (don’t forget tea towels!). Sleeping bags are not an acceptable form of bed linen. It is also worth noting that French pillows tend to be square rather than oblong. You can always buy these or rent these locally.

Do I need travel insurance?

We do recommend you take out some form of travel insurance, both for you personally, and for your personal possessions. We also require you to take out “Tenants liability insurance” which is a French legal requirement and can be obtained at AXA insurance in Morzine (contact details can be supplied by us). We also highly recommend that you take out ski or snowboard accident insurance as French medical care can be extremely expensive should you not be covered by insurance.

What about utilities?

This depends on each property as some have utility bills included in the price. This will be stated clearly in the contract. If utilities are not included, utilities readings will be taken by us as part of the check-in and check-out processes and a charge will be made before the security / damage deposit is returned. We can advise you on typically on how much this is but the amount will be dependent on the size of property.

Will the property have a phone / broadband?

This will vary by property but will be clearly stated either way in the tenancy agreement. Should broadband not be included, it will generally be possible to get it connected up at your own cost. We can advise you on the best way of doing this.

What about Tax de Sejour?

This is a locally payable tourist tax and may be an extra charge you will need to pay in resort if the owners do not include it within the price of the property rental.

What is a catered chalet?

A catered chalet is simply a chalet that provides the whole holiday option for you including all meals and generally unlimited wine with your meal. Many catered chalets also offer free minibus runs to the slopes included within the package price
