Doing a Season in Les Gets
Les Gets is an 800 year old farming village with charm and character throughout.
The resort is mostly made up of traditional ski chalets and larger chalet-hotels occupying the centre of Les Gets. The village is popular with families from both the UK and France so that are lots of job opportunities and the resort has a lively apres scene too.
Although not as well known as it’s neighbor Morzine, Les Gets has a lot to offer holiday makers and seasonaires. It’s part of the Portes du Soleil ski area, which includes 650kms of pistes crossing the French-Swiss border. The resort itself is centered around a main square and most accommodation is within walking distance of the Chavannes chair and bubble lifts. Bars such as JC’s Sports Bar offer excellent happy hours and special seasonaire prices during the winter months. Bar Bush is also a great apres venue and they often host live bands on Wednesday evenings. Igloo Chalet is the club in Les Gets and it’s open until 5am each and every night. Again, there are reduced priced drinks for seasonaires.
Les Gets is linked through the connecting ski lifts of Morzine with the high altitude resort of Avoriaz. Avoriaz plays host to loads of big freestyle and slopestyle ski and snowboard competitions during the winter season and it’s the home of the Burton Stash – a freestyle park made from naturally formed trees and other obstacles. Avoriaz also links you to the Swiss ski resorts of Les Crosets, Champery and Morgins.
Visit the Les Gets Office de Tourisme for more information on the resort of Les Gets.
